Reagan orders Cabinet to find new ways to cut US spending
President Reagan, presented with shocking new budget deficit projections, has ordered his Cabinet to find new ways to cut government spending drastically, administration officials said Wednesday.
According to the officials, Budget Director David Stockman estimated last week that the deficit would exceed $190 billion in the 1985 fiscal year if nothing was done. Mr. Stockman told the President Tuesday that the picture was even worse this week and the deficit could soar to a record $205 billion, from last year's $175 billion.
