US-Nicaraguan peace talks are on, White House confirms

The White House confirmed Thursday that a US envoy will soon meet with the foreign minister of Nicaragua to continue talks aimed at fostering the regional peace process.

The Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday that both sides have agreed to talks in the near future at Manzanillo, Mexico, between US Ambassador Harry Shlaudeman and Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Miguel D'Escoto.
