PLO opposition boycotts leadership meeting

A full meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organization leadership, aimed at resolving differences between chairman Yasser Arafat and his opponents, collapsed Saturday night because of a boycott by Syrian members, a PLO official said Sunday. The session of the 14-man PLO Executive Committee had been widely seen as the last chance to prevent a formal split in the PLO before a meeting in Amman Thursday of the Palestinian parliament-in-exile, the Palestine National Council (PNC).
