World's 2nd artificial heart transplant took place SundayLouisville, Ky.
William J. Schroeder of Jasper, Ind., has become the world's second person to undergo an operation to receive a permanent artificial heart. The surgery to implant the plastic heart was completed at the Humana Hospital Audubon here at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, said a hospital spokesman.
