Voters in Argentina give strong OK on border pact

Sunday's results of a nonbinding referendum showed Argentine voters approved overwhelmingly the pact mediated by the Vatican on the Beagle Channel border dispute with Chile. The draft treaty is scheduled to be signed in Rome this week.

The channel, at the tip of South America, was the source of a bitter, century-long dispute between Argentina and Chile, involving an estimated 48,000 square miles of Atlantic Ocean.
