Lehman says ship contracts stand despite inquiry on gifts
Evidence uncovered to date of military contractors giving gifts to retired Adm. Hyman G. Rickover does not justify canceling existing shipbuilding contracts, Navy Secretary John Lehman said Monday.
Mr. Lehman said that the companies involved are doing a good job on current projects, but he was not ruling out enforcement action against them, including fines.
