Stuck drawbridge on seaway jams up Great Lakes shipping
A jammed drawbridge on the St. Lawrence Seaway has stalled at least 82 ships, caused layoffs at grain elevators, and cost shipping companies millions of dollars in lost revenues. Officials for the seaway, which links the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, say normal traffic is not expected to resume until Dec. 7. They have already decided to delay the seaway's winter closing to clear the backlog of ships.
