Soviet agriculture minister on first US visit since 1971
Agriculture Secretary John Block welcomed his Soviet counterpart, Valentin Mesyats, to his 3,500-acre farm Saturday, saying agriculture is the foundation of friendly relations between the two powers. Mr. Mesyats is touring Midwest farms and agricultural plants in the first visit of a Soviet agriculture minister to the US since 1971.
