Ethiopian diplomat denies that refugees were bombed
Kassa Kebede, Ethiopia's ambassador to Switzerland, denied reports Wednesday from relief organizations that government aircraft bombed a column of starving refugees trekking in the Tigray Province toward the Sudanese border. The alleged attack Dec. 3 was confirmed by a number of independent observers who had treated survivors.
Mr. Kebede left open the possibility that there could have been an attack on separatist guerrillas in Tigray.
