Nicaraguan guerrillas cited for major rights violations

US-backed rebel forces fighting Nicaragua's Sandinista regime have become ''prime violators of human rights'' in Central America, the Council on Hemispheric Affairs reported Saturday.

In an annual survey of human rights in Latin America, the research group also said the hemisphere's worst rights violations continued to occur in Guatemala and El Salvador.
