WORTH NOTING ON TV

SUNDAY The Yin and the Yankee (PBS: 10-11 p.m.): The story of multimillionaire Forbes magazine publisher Malcolm Forbes's 1982 motorcycle/hot-air balloon journey through northern China. Despite all sorts of setbacks in weather and official reluctance to have him balloon over military installations, Forbes was determined to keep moving. The film allows viewers to see a bit of northern China, but it's more about the spirit of a charmingly aggressive entrepreneur who refuses to take ``no'' for an answer. MONDAY

Heart of the Dragon: Marrying (PBS: 8-9 p.m.): Part 6 of a series on various aspects of Chinese life.

Three Sovereigns for Sara: Part 3 (PBS: 9-10 p.m.): American Playhouse miniseries featuring Vanessa Redgrave in riveting drama about the witch hunt of Salem Village. TUESDAY

The Military and the News Media: Correspondents Under Fire (PBS: 9-10 p.m.): Prof. Arthur Miller conducts Columbia University Socratic-method session on role of press during protracted military intervention. WEDNESDAY:

All-Star Salute to Ford's Theatre (CBS:8-9 p.m.): A kind of presidential command performance at Washington's historic theater, featuring lots of singing, dancing, and even magic. Please note: Program times may vary in your area, so check local listings.
