Carousel horses

Where have they gone? We never see them -- the carousel horses of childhood days. Are they free and wild in some upland meadow, deep in grass, where they gallop and graze? Do they miss the call of calliope music? The prancing race round the circling track? And do they sometimes miss the children that once we were, and long for us back?
