Clarification
In the Joseph C. Harsch column ``Dukakis, Gore, and the Jewish vote,'' April 19, reference was made to the ``equally official'' French-language text of United Nations Resolution 242, and its use of the phrase ``les territoires occup'es'' - the occupied territories (of the West Bank). In fact, the resolution was negotiated and voted on in English, and the English version of the resolution refers simply to ``occupied territories,'' without the definite article.
