FRIDAY The Canadian Brass (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): The renowned five-piece combo offers a pop-to-classical program during ``On Stage at Wolftrap.''

SATURDAY NCAA baseball championship (CBS, 1-4 p.m.): Something a little different for weekend network sports - the 42nd College World Series Championship, live from Omaha, Neb. Walter Cronkite at Large (CBS, 10-11 p.m.): The newscaster's broad interests are caught in this special. It updates environmental issues; assesses Macao as it faces takeover by China in 11 years; and goes ballooning over the French countryside with billionaire Malcolm Forbes.

SUNDAY Nature: `Coral Triangle' (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): A stunningly beautiful reef in the Malay Triangle of the Philippines may shelter an array of dazzling fish and sea plants - but it can't protect itself from man, as this documentary indicates. NBA basketball finals (CBS, 3:30-6 p.m. ET): Game 3 between the Eastern Conference champion Detroit Pistons and Western Conference champs, the Los Angeles Lakers.

MONDAY Adventure: `Struggle for the Pole' (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): In the footsteps of Capt. Robert Scott, the expedition members in this documentary face enormous hardships as they trek 883 miles to the South Pole. Blue Skies (CBS, 8-9 p.m.): The premi`ere episode of this new weekly series watches a newly formed family start life together - with laughs, troubles, and some emerging insights - in a small Oregon town.

TUESDAY NBA basketball finals (CBS, 9-11 p.m.): Game 4 between the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers.

WEDNESDAY Billy Joel in the USSR (ABC, 9:30-11 p.m.): With his wife and daughter, the singer walks through the streets and parks of Moscow, Leningrad, and Tbilisi and discovers that his Soviet fans are much like those in the US. The personal documentary also offers concert segments, jam sessions, and discussions. Survival Specials (PBS,8-9 p.m.): One of the most elaborate social structures of any mammals is maintained by Africa's dwarf mongoose. In ``Together They Stand,'' this fascinating family system is documented.

THURSDAY NBA basketball finals (CBS, 9-11:30 p.m.): If the series hasn't been decided, this will be Game 5. US Open Golf Championship (ABC, 11:30-11:45 p.m.): First-round highlights of the 88th session of this major golfing event from the Country Club in Brookline, Mass.
