The fired captain of the Exxon Valdez was ordered held on $1 million bail Wednesday pending a hearing on whether he should be extradited to Alaska on charges of being drunk the night his supertanker hit a reef, causing the worst oil spill in US history. Former Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham, ousted from office by an impeachment conviction a year ago, announced Tuesday night that he will run again next year.
