CHENEY MAY CUT DEFENSE COSTS BY DELAYING NEW WEAPONS
| WASHINGTON
Defense Secretary Dick Cheney, struggling to cut more than $6 billion from the fiscal 1990 budget, has strongly hinted that the B-2 stealth bomber and other high-tech weapons that haven't yet gone into production may be prime targets. Defense sources said Cheney also is considering a slowdown in the production of Trident missile submarines - building one every two years instead of one a year - and might also order some cuts in troop strength.
