HANDGUN BILL IS CONSIDERED IN FLORIDA
| TAMPA, FLA.
State lawmakers are considering a bill to make leaving a firearm accessible to a child a crime after a third Florida child died this month because of an accident involving children playing with handguns. In Tallahassee, Fla., lawmakers intended to take up a bill that would make the offense a misdemeanor, or a felony with a maximum five-year prison term if the person who left the gun in reach was negligent and a child died or was disfigured. The bill will be voted on during a three-day special session beginning this week.
