POLICE QUELL RIOTS AT VIRGINIA BEACH

Police and national guardsmen in Virgina Beach patrolled a 30-block area early Monday after closing it to visitors following two nights of riots. Hundreds of people have been jailed and 18 were injured, including nine police officers. The trouble began late Saturday night when police tried to break up an outdoor dance party involving fraternity members along Atlantic Avenue, a long strip of hotels and restaurants.
