| BOSTON
Record proportions of youths were in the labor force and employed in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. The proportion of 16-to-24 year olds working or seeking work reached 77.5 percent, and the proportion actually employed was 69.2 percent. The youth unemployment rate was 10.7 percent, which, along with a similar rate in 1988, was the lowest rate in the prior two decades.
