| ALEXANDRIA, VA.
Forty-six states now fund some type of employer-based training, the American Society for Training and Development reports. The ASTD says that available funds range from $50,000 in Vermont to $116.8 million in California. Most states provide several million dollars per year.
Nearly all the programs were designed as economic development tools, to lure new employers and encourage existing ones to expand.
