EC REJECTS TURKISH MEMBERSHIP
| BRUSSELS
The European Community's executive body Monday said Turkey should not be allowed to join the trading bloc, citing improvements needed in its economy and human rights record. The EC's executive body has been considering the implications of Turkish membership since Ankara applied to join the Community in 1987.
