An award of merit in the Newspaper of the Year competition has been given to The Christian Science Monitor by the New England Newspaper Association. The sponsors noted that although the Monitor did not fall into the category of a metropolitan newspaper, it does what it does ``better than anybody else.''

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
