MEXICAN FOOD SALES BOOMING

The $1.34 billion retail market for Mexican food rose 14 percent in 1989, according to Packaged Facts Inc., a research firm. In a new study, the company predicts 12 to 14.5 percent growth through 1995. ``Mexican food may never become as American as apple pie, but it will become as American as any number of adopted foods, like frankfurters, waffles, pizza, and french fries,'' president David A. Weiss says.
