SAVING FUEL ON THE ROAD

The American Petroleum Institute, citing the world's loss of oil exports from Iraq and Kuwait, offers fuel conservation ideas for automobile drivers. In addition to car pooling, increased use of public transportation, and driving during off-peak hours, the organization suggests: Unnecessary vehicle weight should be removed.
Engines should be turned off when the car is stopped for more than a minute.
Tires should be inflated to the recommended pressure.
