More than half of United States corporations are offering some form of re-employment assistance to spouses of transferred employees, according to the Conference Board. The business group notes that 70 percent of US couples represented in the work force are dual earners. Nationwide, nearly 500,000 employees are transferred each year at an average cost of $41,000, of which $500 to $2,000 is spouse assistance.
