CORPORATE BOARDS RESHAPED

Chief executive officers say they should have the right to request the resignation of corporate directors that are not performing adequately. The CEOs favor regular formal reviews of directors. These are among the findings of a CEO survey by Korn/Ferry International, an executive search firm. Other findings include:

In the 1990s, directors will serve on fewer corporate boards. CEOs favor limiting directors' board service to three companies.

During the past five years the number of outside directors sitting on boards has increased by 25 percent, and this trend is expected to continue.

The CEOs polled said directors with international experience would be a major asset.
