DIESEL TRUCK SETS NEW WORLD SPEED RECORD

A heavily modified diesel truck set a new world speed record - for diesel trucks - at the annual Bonneville Salt Flats "Speed Week" trials near Wendover, Utah.On Aug. 19, 1991, Mike McCombs drove a modified international heavy truck at an average speed of 198.3 miles per hour. Mr. McCombs' high and low speeds ranged from 194 to 213 m.p.h. This new record breaks the 187.8 m.p.h. record set in 1990 by McCombs at the "World of Speed" event.
