The total number of corporate name changes for 1991 was down 20 percent from 1990 and was 43 percent lower than the 1,864 recorded during the record year of 1988. Of the total of 1,069 name changes in 1991, about 29 percent were related to mergers and acquisitions, according to Anspach Grossman Portugal Inc.
