JAPANESE CEOs GET FRACTION OF US CEO PENSIONS

* Ford Motor Company chairman and chief executive officer Harold Poling would receive almost 54 times the pension of the average auto worker if he retired today, according to a recent issue of Pensions & Investments, a biweekly newsletter.

On the other hand, a Japanese CEO who chose a pension instead of the more common lump-sum payment would get about 5.2 times the pension of the typical Japanese hourly worker.

If General Motors Corporation chairman Robert Stempel retired today, his pension would be about 33 times that of the typical hourly worker. Lee Iacocca, chairman and CEO of Chrysler Corporation, would receive a pension about 13 times that of the average hourly worker from his company.
