AMERICAN VIEW OF JAPANESE PRODUCTS

Americans think the Japanese make better consumer electronics, but think US manufacturers offer better value for major home appliances, toys, games, and home computers, according to the NPD Group, a market research firm.

Of the 7,000 households surveyed, 3 out of 4 respondents own at least one Japanese product. When asked if they would buy Japanese products again, 61 percent said they would buy cars, 62 percent would purchase TV's, VCR's, and stereos, and 60 percent would purchase cameras.
