MOLDOVAN PREMIER VISITS ROMANIA

Moldovan Prime Minister Andrei Sangheli said Aug. 18 he plans to sign economic cooperation pacts with neighboring Romania.

Sangheli arrived in Bucharest for an official two-day visit and will meet President Ion Iliescu, Prime Minister Theodor Stolojan, and Foreign Minister Adrian Nastase.

Moldova was formed from territories annexed from Romania by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in 1940. Official policy in the former Soviet republic of Moldova and Romania seeks gradual economic and cultural integration.
