TICKET SALES TO `HURRICANE RELIEF' CONCERT TOP $1 MILLION

The benefit to aid victims of Hurricanes Andrew and Iniki has sold over 46,000 tickets for its Sept. 26 concert at Miami's Joe Robbie Stadium.

Event organizers expect the concert to sell out the 54,000-capacity venue this week. The lineup continues to grow with the addition of Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Sinbad, Clarence Clemmons, and Michael Winslow joining co-hosts Gloria Estefan, Whoopi Goldberg, and Andy Garcia.

The benefit is presented by Comic Relief, Estefan Enterprises, Cellar Door Concerts, Joe Robbie Stadium, the Miami Dolphins, and the Florida Marlins. American Airlines and Coca Cola have joined as sponsors. Comic Relief's toll-free number, 1-800-528-1000, is currently in service for donations.

Dick Clark, who recently opened his "American Bandstand" restaurant in Miami, purchased $20,000 worth of tickets to be used in a radio promotion. According to a Clark spokesman, the tickets will be given away via a radio call-in contest to get the word out about the benefit.
