The majority of Hawaiian residents are of Asian or Pacific Island descent. Asian populations are also found in California and Nevada, which are also home to the region's largest black populations. Hispanics form an important population segment across the area; they make up almost 40 percent of New Mexico's ranks. American Indians make

up less than 10 percent of the populace of New Mexico and Arizona.
