* INTERVISTA - Life, memory, and the truth and illusion of cinema are the most important threads in this partly autobiographical film by Federico Fellini, who explores the joys and mysteries of his own career through a time-traveling story about past and present events that occupy his thoughts while he prepares to shoot a new picture. The movie isn't always absorbing, but at its best it's as breathtaking as anything the European cinema has given us in years. (Not rated)

* STORYVILLE - An aspiring politician gets tangled up with murder and other nasty business in this baroquely plotted, frequently violent mystery yarn. Written and directed with much competence but not much distinction by Mark Frost, who created the "Twin Peaks" television series with David Lynch. (Rated R)

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
