HEAVY-DUTY DETERGENT SALES ARE GROWING

Heavy-duty detergent sales growth will hit 4.1 percent in 1992, pushing the market to $3.85 billion, according to Packaged Facts, a research firm.

The growth in 1992 is due to a resurgence of powders, which increased 9.3 percent to reach $2.35 billion. Sales of liquid detergents, which experienced double-digit annual growth at the end of the '80s, fell to $1.5 billion.
