MOLDOVA AND US ESTABLISH BUSINESS TIES

The Republic of Moldova has become the first former Soviet republic to establish a bilateral organization to promote increased investment by the American business community.

Comprising 200 members, the Moldovan-American Chamber of Commerce was created recently by an agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Moldova and the Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York.

Romania shares a common border with Moldova. More than 60 percent of Moldova's 4.5 million people are ethnic Romanians.
