Kids Join Inauguration Action With Disney Special

CABLE'S Disney Channel will feature the children's music group Parachute Express in a one-hour special, the "Presidential Inaugural Celebration for Children" on Jan. 19 (check local listings). The trio salutes President-elect Bill Clinton and Vice President-elect Al Gore in a show designed to involve children in the celebration of the 52nd Presidental Inaugural.

Taped at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, The Disney Channel program is hosted by Markie Post.

Parachute Express will sing their popular single, "Happy to Be Here," and will share the stage with the Muppets and Kermit the Frog, Raffi, recording artists Roseanne Cash and Emmylou Harris, Fred Rogers (of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood"), the cast of "Adventures in Wonderland," and Oakland, Calif. storyteller Diana Ferlatte. The special will be aired during a free Disney Channel preview period.
