Pro-Basketball Playoffs Preview

THE Phoenix Suns had the league's best record this year and face the Los Angeles Lakers in first-round playoffs tonight. The Suns took the Lakers 5-0 in regular-season play; watch for them to make it eight straight.

The Charlotte Hornets are an upstart team; they made it into postseason play for the first time this year. Charlotte's first-round series against the Boston Celtics is being called "the young vs. the old," and the matchup to watch is rookie-of-the-year candidate Alonzo Mourning against the league's most senior player, Boston's Robert Parish.

But the team to beat is the two-time defending-champion Chicago Bulls, who meet Atlanta tonight. Chicago has some injured players, but it also has Michael Jordan, who led the league in scoring -- for the seventh year in a row.
