Guatemalans and Mexicans Seek Solutions
In the article, "Distrust, Suspicion Mark Return of Guatemalans," May 5, your coverage of the return of Guatemalan refugees is very informative. Having spent time with a Witness for Peace delegation in refugee communities in both Mexico and Guatemala last year I am aware of some of the problems the refugees are facing. May I suggest that the international community is not "being duped into supporting a rebel strategy," as one interviewee suggested, but rather is being urged to respond to the human needs of these people who are living in very trying conditions.
