VISITING TORONTO

Getting around: When sightseeing by car, look for the large green circles with the letter ``P'' that indicate a municipal parking lot. They are usually much cheaper than private lots. A better way to see the city is on foot or by bus and subway. Buy a packet of 10 Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) tickets for $13 (Canadian; US$9.25) from a TTC station. Otherwise, it's C$2 per ride on a subway or bus.

Don't miss: The CN Tower; Ontario Place; Harborfront and boat tours of the Toronto Islands; Casa Loma (a 98-room castle built in 1914); the Royal Ontario Museum; the Ontario Science Center; the SkyDome (home of the world-champion Blue Jays); the Beach.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
