A July 14 article misstated the number of American children playing soccer. It should have said the 6.9 million kids under age 12 played soccer last year, versus 5 million for baseball and 2.8 million for tackle football (baseball lead them all with 9 million). The story also should have said that youth soccer has grown by 2 to 5 percent a year in Washington State.
