Bring back baseball, get back trust
HIS health-care initiative is foundering in Congress.... His presidency is in trouble. What can President Clinton do to win back public trust? How about ending the baseball strike? The players' strike that's likely to bring a premature end to the 1994 baseball season may not be in the first rank of predicaments, dilemmas, and crises facing the nation. But unlike some more serious woes, the strike is an annoyance keenly felt across a wide swath of the populace.
Take away major-league baseball, and summer is over weeks too soon for millions of Americans.... Get the baseballs flying again, Bill, and watch your poll numbers soar into the bleachers.
