Wings (The Discovery Channel, 9-10 p.m.): ``The Last of the Gunfighters'' may sound like an old Western film, but it's actually a documentary profile of a legendary plane - the Navy's F-8 Crusader.

This edition of the anthology about planes and their histories presents the impressive record of an aircraft that was designed as a carrier-based fighter, yet broke the sound barrier (back in 1956) and could also land on a carrier deck at the relatively slow speed of 115 m.p.h.

Former astronaut (now a Democratic senator from Ohio) John Glenn flew it coast to coast in 1957, setting another speed record, and later that year the Marines and Navy began acquiring Crusaders as a cold war weapon.

Alas, for fighter-plane fans, that kind of aircraft - and the era it represents - began to fall behind the times as missile systems were perfected, and eventually the Crusader was retired.

Its replacement: the F-4 Phantom, which doubtless will be getting its own nostalgic TV tribute in the years ahead.

ABC In Concert (ABC, (12:06-12:36 a.m.): When the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary in April, one event that made a splash was the appearance by the Neville Brothers, a group sometimes called the First Family of New Orleans. A tape of their performance is a highlight of this edition of the series, in which Aaron Neville sings his hit ``Don't Take Away My Heaven'' with his brothers. In an interview on the show, Neville speaks of the central place his work with the group occupies amid the many outside gigs he performs.

The program also offers a clip of Booker T & the MGs doing their big hit ``Green Onions,'' taped when they were at the Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts near Boston. And Lee Rocker, formerly of Stray Cat, performs with his current blues group Lee Rocker's Big Blue, created in 1992. The program catches them at the Coach House at San Juan Capistrano, in California.
