CALRIFICATION
The Minnesota Appeals Court this week found 3 to 0 that The First Church of Christ, Scientist was not liable for $9 million in punitive damages in the 1989 death of a boy whose parents resorted to spiritual healing instead of conventional medicine. The court divided 2 to 1 on some other issues in the case, including a finding that the church was not liable for $1.5 million in compensatory damages. The judges unanimously found that the parents, a Christian Science practitioner, and a Christian Science nurse were liable for the compensatory damages.
