Stars and Stripes: Hollywood and WWII (AMC, 9:15-10:30 a.m.): This documentary is part of AMC's 24-hour celebration of the 50th anniversary of V-J Day. David Eisenhower, grandson of Dwight Eisenhower, hosts nine classic World War II movies, including ''Caught in the Draft'' (1941), starring Bob Hope, and ''To Hell and Back'' (1955) with Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in World War II.

The Concert for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (HBO, 7:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. EDT): Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne, Jon Bon Jovi, Chuck Berry, and the Allman Brothers Band are among the famous musicians scheduled to perform at this extravaganza.

* SUNDAY

Network Earth (TBS, 11-11:30 p.m. EDT): In anticipation of the UN's Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, this newsmagazine looks at innovative projects by women in North Carolina, Jordan, and El Salvador.

* MONDAY

Ties That Bind (PBS, day and time broadcast schedules vary): This Labor Day special examines efforts by American workers to bring unions to their workplaces. Interviews with representatives from business, labor, and government shed light on the increasingly anti-union tone of the '90s.

Almost Golden: The Jessica Savitch Story (Lifetime, 8-10 p.m.): Twenty-five years ago, women news anchors were unheard of - until Jessica Savitch. This movie, starring Sela Ward of ''Sisters,'' dramatizes the professional accomplishments and personal turbulence of the NBC anchor who paved the way for women TV broadcasters after her. A factual profile follows at 10 p.m. with ''Intimate Portrait: Jessica Savitch.''

* TUESDAY

Reel Memories (TCM, 9:30-10:30 p.m.): Actress, singer, and dancer Jane Powell is the first guest in this new interview show. TCM is featuring her movies, including ''Royal Wedding,'' throughout September.
