Moon Sliver
There's a white moon sliver
wedged
in the night's black skin,
a soothing wound
to sky and eye
cradling the shards
of a broken day.
We love so much
what's too far for us to touch.
There's a bright moon sliver
in your eye
dancing
from yours to mine
wedged in blackness
clean and new
the infant slate of us.
We love so much
what's too near for us to touch.
