Roses are red - if they don't wilt

Here are some tips for making those dozen long-stemmed roses last (at least longer than that heart-shaped box of truffles will):

*Take the flowers out of the box right away.

*Cut the stems at an angle under water.

*Place flowers in lukewarm water mixed with the packet provided by your florist.

*Remove leaves.

*Keep away from direct light or heat.

*Recut stems and change water daily.
