Choosing an ethical contractor
Houses of worship are sacred places. They reflect the values of those who worship there. But in too many cases, church or synagogue building committees choose a contractor based solely on cost, neglecting ethical considerations such as fair treatment of workers and respect for the environment.
The National Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice, based in Chicago, offers tips for hiring a building contractor. These include questions to ask potential contractors, as well as sources. Call (773)-728-8400.
