Get the helmet habit!
Bicycling is on a roll in America and so is the use of helmets. A few facts:
*50 percent of the estimated 80.6 million US bicycle riders regularly wear helmets. That's up from 18 percent in 1991.
*Parents report 69 percent of children under 16 regularly use helmets. But only 38 percent of adults put on a lid.
Why? A new survey shows that nearly all riders who wear a helmet do it for safety reasons. Seventy percent said they did it because mom and dad made them. And 44 percent said it was because state laws require it. For more information on bicycle safety, visit www.bikehelmet.org
