This vent crab usually lives 8,000 feet below the ocean surface near hydrothermal vents. Right now, it's in more confined quarters at the Mystic Aquarium Connecticut, as part of an exhibit called 'Challenge of the Deep.'
The crowding isn't as bad as it seems, since a vent crab in the ocean does not stray from its heat source.
